Crionna Update

The returned baby girl snake and i are settling in with one another - a bit warily, so far. She escaped from her terrarium and six months later, let herself be seen downstairs and at the other end of the house.

After being fed and enjoying a long drink of water, she disappeared again - a total mystery, since i had closed up every escape route I could discern in her roomy home. I did know that all the thoughts in my head every time I came into the bedroom were about freedom and risktaking and having new experiences - so I was having a lot of sympathy for her, though life now was about having food and water when she wanted it, a warm rock to be cozy, and a cave to look out at the world from.

Finally, Mary took her turn at inspecting Crionna’s home. She spent much time looking over, under, around and through every nooking and cranny - and she spotted the baby girl. The driftwood climber is full of holes, as driftwood is wont to be - and peering out of one of the tiniest of them was Crionna! Another place she hid after that was vertical - in the corner of the terrarium, curling various parts of herself around the nuts holding the lexan plates and wood braces together.

My Hekima, who left the planet at the autumnal equinox, liked to be under cover and peering out. This one loves to tie herself in almost literal knots - she curls herself back and forth into a tangled up ball, to fit into the any small space - obviously enjoying that squished feeling of being tightly surrounded on all sides.

She came out to be fed on Thursday night late - I told her I was too tired to consider it, and that I would feed her Friday. Then Friday was another late evening - by this time she was clearly ticked. So last night, no matter how tired I was, I knew there were no excuses! I thawed her pinkies, and put them on a plate on top of her rock. She ignored them for quite a while, just to make sure I understood who was in charge. Once I settled down with a book and was paying no attention - dinner was gone in no time.

Someone suggested the name independent, translated into Irish Gaelic, would be good for her. I looked it up, and have no way to pronounce it. I just looked up freedom - which is spelled saoirse. At least it has fewer letters than the Irish for independent - so if I can figure out the pronunciation, she may have a nickname!

People over time have asked me what it’s like to have a snake for a pet (I’m not actually sure who has who!), since they aren’t active and don’t have personalities. Those folk have never met my reptilian friends. After I finish learning all the Irish I need to get her properly named, I’m going to take a course in Parseltongue. Just to stay even with that strong personality!

Sedona - Number One

Lots of interesting experiences in Sedona - maybe I’ll start with the last part first, since it’s still having an effect - though not a lasting one!

We had finished our last ceremony on Monday around lunchtime, and were walking back up Oak Creek Canyon to where the vans were parked. I was helping another of the participants, who had a severely disabled leg. The terrain is in part red rock waves of stone, part sandy gravel, and much of it good sized stones. We were sliding our way from one surface to another when we each went in different directions - and my left knee twisted.

It’s amazing how much racket a knee can make when it’s decided it doesn’t like the direction you’ve chosen! Luckily, at least half the folk on the trip are healers, most of whom worked on me, once a stick was found that I could limp in with. I had Reiki from several Masters repeatedly. I also got to experience multiple sessions with a quantum touch healer, and was treated with peppermint essential oil on the area in question, in addition to buying a brace at the drugstore. So the knee never actually swelled up!

The first night was tough - believing in Reiki, but very much in touch with how serious the initial injury felt. I already knew RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation. I waked and slept all night long, refilling the icebag each time the ice melted.

Help was freely offered - and I also asked for it when I needed it - both wonderful lessons. I was wheelchaired through the Phoenix, Atlanta and Indianapolis airports, getting to see behind the scenes elevators and hallways.

Four days later, the pain - which was never excruciating, thanks to all those healers - is now confined to a thin line about an inch long on the side of my knee.

Lots to learn and ponder from this experience - not least that Louise Hay calls any joint problem a symptom of inflexibility, and says that injuries on the left side of the body indicate problems with receptivity and taking in. For the probable cause of injuries, Louise suggests we look to anger at the self and / or feeling guilty.

So I am busy affirming that my energy is beautifully balanced, that I bend and flow with ease, and all is well!

Off to Sedona!

Sedona - a gorgeous place all on its own and mecca to new agers / energy folk - is going to be home for the next week! I am the only new age person I know who hasn’t been there - so now, traveling with friends Francine and Steve Haydon, Mary Dusing and lots of others, we are going to work / play with a number of gifted teachers.

Pete Sanders, an MIT grad, blends science and spirituality with practical techniques to allow us to access our own soul and past life memories. You know how much I love the practical stuff, that can make a difference right now! We’re going to journey to a couple of vortexes with Pete.

Adam “Yellowbird” DeArmon has created EarthDance - a spiritual gathering for all races, religions and tribes to unite and celebrate life. Adam’s multicultural background has led him to honor the natural world and traditional ways of healing. He’s taking us to Sunset Crater to walk on the lava flows and feel the energy, and then to the Wupatki Ruins. Plus a trip to the Navajo market area. Yum!

Sound healing is the topic when we work with John Dumas, who will lead us on a shamanic journey into dreamtime. Didgeridoos, handmade flutes and Tibetan bowls will carry us to new places. Then we will take wander through the night skies as seen by the Mayans at John’s home in the desert.

With BlueHawks, well known in our area and a teacher of Francine and Steve, we will create a water and blessing ceremony at Oak Creek, near Cathedral Rock.

I am excited to be taking this journey, and look forward to a closer connection with Spirit / The Goddess / The Universe / All That Is. I’ll keep my energy open, sending experiences back to all of you as I experience them.

Let me know what you get and when you get it! We can share it all with each other when I’m home again to this space. You’ll hear from me here on the 14th .

Blessings to us all - and to the Earth.

The DaVinci Code - A Good Movie!

I, of course, like all of you, read The Da Vinci Code and felt its truth. Lots of fiction is totally true, like Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley - a channelled book if I ever read one! The DaVinci Code may not have been channelled - I’ve never heard Dan Brown complain about the direction it took, or not liking parts of it, which is for me one of the hallmarks of a book that Spirit took over and ran with.

But the DaVinci Code is true in an internal sense, and makes women feel ‘Aaahhhh, there it is’, nonetheless.

I was disappointed in the reviews, but knew I was going to see it anyway, so grandson Patrick and I went off to the movies the day before my birthday. About a third of the way through, I leaned over to him and said ‘This is a Good Movie!’ I was surprised, because somehow I had internalized those bad reviews. As I watched the story unfold, I realized that the reviewers just didn’t get it, never understood the story.

For me, the movie works on the action adventure / mystery level as a fine film. And on the mythological level, it allows you to check out the evidence and observe the characters’ reaction to it, while you make up your own mind.

The complaint about no love story chemistry between Tom Hanks and his costar just doesn’t work for me. They are being pursued by killers and the police, racing across Europe in perhaps a bit over a day. If they had gotten passionate with each other, I would not have believed it. That’s old paradigm thinking at work - those reviewers need to Just Get Over It!

So go see The DaVinci Code, have a great time, and feel better about being female in a world that is shifting back to the pre-patriarchal wisdom time.
