We are a culture of the mountaintop, of the light. We shun the dark, the cave. And yet….it is from the darkness, the womb, the chaos that creativity and love are born.
We have made the light feel safe, and the dark feel scary. Yet both are needed for balance, for health, for growth.
Our aspirations are to go up – to heaven, to the top of our organization, to be above. Nourishment is below, in the earth, in our inmost selves. The seed needs the dark to begin its mysterious process – and our own inner work often begins with the barest recognition of a new truth, an urge to explore a new possibility. We cannot yet name it, we only know the urge is there, in the dark.
Both the light and the dark are safe as long as our inner eyes are open.
