It’s 9:22 p m on Friday night, July 20. (I love it when I look at a clock and it’s :22 – one of my favorite numbers!)
The Harry Potter gathering begins at Joseph-Beth at 10 p m. And at 12:01 a m on July 21 – just a bit over 2-1/2 hours from now – the 7th and last story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be in my hands. I bought my voucher as soon as the date was set, way back in February.
And this past few days, I’ve stopped reading a Jason Elliott travel narrative on Iran, called Mirrors of the Unseen (excellent!), to re-read book 6 – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Which I finished just a few minutes ago – so Dumbledore just died again for me, and Snape (good? evil?) is gone off with Draco and the Death Eaters just now, and Harry and Ginny are no longer together.
The Horcruxes are the crux (sorry – couldn’t help it!) of the new story. Who will die? at least 2 majors, but the New York Times says 6 characters whom we know and care about are gone by book’s end. Harry vs. Voldemort – Harry MUST win! And what about Ron? Hermione? Ginny? Hagrid?
I will surface for air this weekend as I must to accomplish projects that can’t wait, do readings, eat, sleep. I’ll keep you posted as I learn what’s happening to whom.
