I’m experiencing an interesting phenomenon this year when I’m working in the garden, maybe watering, or planting, or filling the bird feeders. Or just sitting on the beautiful stone walls and smiling.
Life continues for all the sentient beings out there just as it does when I’m indoors looking out.
The chickadees don’t bother to get agitated and fly away. One may cock its head my way before continuing to feed. Mourning doves plop as usual. Chipmunks have given up hiding and keep on stuffing those little cheeks. I’ve had to shoo squirrels away from my feet. The deer retreat a few feet into the woods, but seldom run – especially the babies.
What a treat for me to breathe with all of them. And it only took the woods 15 years to teach me to be still and present even when I’m moving
