I have been amazed at how much my son Brian enjoys being on the campaign trail during his first run for City Council in 2003 and again this year, He absolutely loves parades, and the chance to shake hundreds of hands and then run to catch up to our truck or convertible, as we’re passing out business cards, stickers and candy.
He’s also very good at the candidate nights at community councils and other civic groups, usually catching up on phone calls and then not missing a bit as he goes into his talk. Unlike most of the candidates, Brian prepares for each one individually and doesn’t have a set speech.
It’s a treat for me to watch him put himself out there for crowds, and watch their response. Last night in Walnut Hills, my home community, he was super terrific, telling stories and then drawing his campaign promises from them.
A real political talent – I sure am proud of him!
