I got up early this morning, drove the car up the hill to Whitie’s, the wonderful neighborhood car repair service, then walked home (picking up trash along the way) to have a quiet day of writing.
Whitie’s is so great! They will check all the fluids, belts, filters, etc, pump up the tires, change the oil, winterize, check the brakes since it’s been some miles and months since they’ve been looked at, take care of the catalytic converter, which has had its little light on, and figure out the ‘different’ sound the starter just began making.
I love the closeness and convenience of everything in this city. Five minutes from Fountain Square and yet I have woods, deer, bluejays, that wonderful hawk who comes to visit.
And I spend almost no time on I-275, wondering what the slow down is. It’s a wonderful life!
And in a couple of hours, I’ll walk back up the hill and drive down with my well-cared for car. Though I could almost do my life with a scooter or a bike. I keep thinking about that.
