Snowdrops Coming Up!

February 9, 2008 By admin

It’s clear today that winter is on the move – and that move is toward the exict!

The little many-leaved clumps of snowdrop are emerging everywhere in the yard. No evidence yet of the clusters of little white blooms leaning toward the ground. But the leaves are not just pushing through, they are all the way up. So the flowers can’t be far behind.

I noticed the beginnings of the daffodil and crocus leaves, too – the tips just pushing through. There are actually some winter aconite – yellow flowers that look almost like buttercups – in bloom. Saw one in the wall along the driveway.

So winter will loosen its hold as the world continues to turn. Aaaaahhhhhhh.
