I always enjoy a rousing Kennedy speech and did so when Ted Kennedy endorsed Barack Obama. And I enjoyed watching all the hugging and congratulations from Ted and Carolyn and Patrick Kennedy.
Barack grinning was also a treat to see. He is often so busy teaching us that we need to pay attention to complex issues that he forgets to smile.
But my favorite part of the event was a YouTube video wherein the videographer simply walked along the line waiting to be in, video-ing everyone who was hoping to be able to see and hear Senator Obama.
It was nearly 7 minutes of walking beside and then past that long line of mostly young hopefuls. Lots of students, people of many colors and clothing styles, babies in strollers, professors and professionals, everyone bundled up in their Boston keeping warm coats and parkas.
The essence of the campaign, and of the difference Barack has already made, was in that video. Blessings for the wisdom of s/he who had that wonderful idea.
