Christmas to St. Paddy’s Day

March 8, 2008 By admin

As most of you no doubt expect, my house is usually full of green stuff. And I’m always wearing one shade or the other of green – just makes me happy!

What folk have noticed this year, though, is that I went right from Christmas to St. Paddy’s Day. I took the tree down and put up the shamrocks. They are everywhere. Even bought myself a new shamrock (oxalis) plant this year. A green one, though I may also buy a purple.

I did have a few Valentine’s Day items up – took them down the day after. And am now trying to figure out where to put Easter decorations so they don’t overpower the Irish-ness – or whether I should just want until St. Patrick’s is over.

But, of course, the St. Patrick’s stuff (leprechauns, fairies, a hat, a shamrock magic wand, etc) will not be disappearing right after the Big Day. Might be the Solstice before they move on.

And shortly I’ll be starting another baking orgy – Irish soda bread. Yum!
