Son Brian always gathers his troops for the Northside 4th of July parade – which most definitely includes his mother. This was a rainy one, but not nearly so rainy as predicted.
We were 49th, so about in the middle, marching behind a group of Northside bicyclists, and in front of the Rollergirls, with their music blazing. Brian loves high fiving all the parade watchers, this year reminding them that he’ll be running for Council next year. I love talking to spectators, letting them know that that’s my son over there, and how great he is.
Northside really knows and loves Brian, and lots of my friends live there, too – so it’s a super fun afternoon. Followed as always with a meal in one of Northside’s great restaurants – this year, Portofino Pizza, which served up an interesting and tasty vegan pizza, new on the menu.
And I got to spend time with one of my Reiki crew, who has now finished his nursing training, and is working at a local hospital. He and I worked together on the friend I was eating with – so really a multiple pleasure kind of day.
Until I got home and found 1 electric line out. But that provided extra time with Brian and a couple of his friends, as Bri figured out that Duke Energy was needed, and we waited on the repairs to be done.
So – a perfect and interesting, if challenging, day.
