I had gotten a bunch of emails from various friends mentioning that I could stop the flood of catalogs. I made a note and put it on my to do pile, where it promptly got buried. I actually get very little mail now besides junk mail and catalogs. I’ve switched all my billpaying to the internet, and have signed up via email for the newsletters I wish to receive. Still didn’t take that last step.
Then one day, 4 catalogs arrived at the same time. So I managed to look up an email from one of the friends who’d mentioned it (remind me to clean out my emails!), signed on to www.catalogchoice.org, and worked my way through the stack. It’s simple, but takes a little time. And then takes time to actually stop receiving them.
I just got one yesterday and tried to stop it. Turned out I already had declined. But the 6 to 8 weeks is not up yet. In the meantime, it’ll go in the recycling.
I am looking forward to a non-catalog Christmas.
