I had volunteered to have Dream Group on Saturday at my house this time. Nicely, the friend who cleans for me was coming on Thursday, so that worked out. Normally, I get a goat cheese and veggie quiche from What’s for Dinner, but it was summer, and that just felt like too much. I had fun thinking of what else to have.
I got fresh, mostly organic and all local, fruit from Keller’s on Ludlow. Had a wonderful time picking out everything I wanted, knew I was buying more than the Dreamers would eat, just enjoyed doing it. Plus vegan cream cheese and Greek honey yogurt. I already had tons of organic butter and soy milk.
On Saturday morning, I got up early and went to Shadeau Bakery in Over-the-Rhine – and did the same thing. bought everything that caught my eye. A tea ring, plus 2 each of several other tasty treats (I do have a sweet tooth!). It all only cost me $21 + change. As I was leaving, a homeless artist I know was sitting on a step nearby. Gifted, talented, can’t really hold life together. I let him pick out his lunch – he says he doesn’t eat breakfast. He picked the swiss cheese croissants.
Several juices were in the fridge, there’s always tea at my house, I was nearly ready. And one of the Dreamers arrived early. So she helped me figure out which melon was the ripest, and then cut it up as I got everything else ready. We had a great breakfast feast!
Afterwards, two of them took some of the fruit home. It’s always fun to give things away, isn’t it? And then I got to re-play all our dreams and conversation as I was putting everything back together before clients began to arrive.
This morning, I took most of the rest of the abundance over to my son’s house – knowing that he and the boys would make excellent use of it.
What a yummy pleasure all of that choosing and preparing and savoring and giving away and cleaning up was. Life Is So Good!
