Review: Hamburger Mary’s

November 16, 2009 By pgarry

It’s open again! A cause for rejoicing for casual food fans in downtown Cincinnati!

Hamburger Mary’s was open for a long time as a work and gathering place for the differently gendered – and for all of us who like non-tedious food and ambience. Then it closed, re-opened partially as Universal Grille, then closed. And now – it’s open again.

Basically the same menu – lots of burger choices, excellent fries (regular and sweet potato), good onion rings – and other easy food. Lots of it outside the norm of bar food – healthier, better tasting, more fun. They have one of the best black bean burgers in town. These veggie burgers can be dry in other hands – at Hamburger Mary’s, they’re as zesty and moist as all the other choices.

Good service, just quick enough, good choices, convenient, lots of parking around, close to all the theaters, priced high enough so you know it’s good food, cheap enough that you can afford it all – that’s still Hamburger Mary’s. I’m glad she’s back!
