An oldie but a goodie has returned to the Cincinnati scene! ZZ’s has been closed for at least 5 years – I’ve driven mournfully past their location on Gilbert Avenue, at the corner of Florence, as I head downtown from my neighborhood, ever since they closed.
A new crew is running the place, with help from the previous owner, and they are doing just fine! The first in the area with gourmet pizza, ZZ’s is once again cranking them out. I can’t remember the name of my old favorite, and there’s no website, and no menus on their facebook page -but it’s the one with the sundried tomatoes and capers and kasseri and goat cheeses. I told them to hold the cow cheeses, just like I always did. When it arrived, I loaded it up with hot pepper and was back in heaven. So good!
I saw the mile-high banana creme pie on the menu, too, but didn’t order it – that’ll wait for next time.
Life is sooooo good! ZZ’s is back!
