So it’s that time of year. What you pick out to wear in the morning is making you too hot or leaving you too cold by the end of the afternoon. Layering is a good idea, but a little hard to do on days when a meeting downtown or at City Hall is on the schedule.
Just looking out the window or checking Wunderground on line is not enough. Going outside and standing for a minute at least lets me know if there’s humidity (sure was yesterday – and so early!) or if the wind is blowing… and how it’s blowing.
A sweater is likely to be a bit too warm, a blouse often too cool. And since in winter and spring, I’d rather be too warm (when it’s not all perfect : >)- I opt for the sweater. I had socks and boots on this morning – but after I went outside to feed the birds, I knew it would be too warm for that. So I chose actual shoes. Which I only do in spring and fall, and then only occasionally. Boots in the winter, sandals in the summer.
The footwear is fairly accessible. But lightweight shirts and blouses, pajamas, slacks, even jackets are all put away. And, of course, every other woman in the region is going through the same thing. Even some guys are complaining. So it’s just our usual pre-May weather confusion. Makes an adventure out of just getting dressed in the morning.
