BBC reporter Katty Kay was in town this week, speaking at the Woman’s City Club’s National Speaker’s Forum. I’d heard her mostly on the Diane Rehm Show on VXU. She was fun and interesting, no spectacular revelations, but some good thinking. And it was fun to watch Maureen Wood manage to get her little flock into absolutely terrific seats.
I bought the book Womenomics, by Katty and co-author Claire Shipman of Good Morning America, because of the note in the program that it was about “the significant value of women in the workplace. Companies with more women managers are more profitable, they conclude.” When I bought it, I saw that the subtitle is 1. write your own rules for success 2. How to Stop Juggling and Struggling and Finally Start Living and Working the Way You Really Want.
One version sounds like a learned treatise, the other like a how-to book. So it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out. I’ll let you know about any good tips I find.
p.s. Thanks to Maureen’s managing, I also got the book autographed.
