Well, Wimbledon certainly didn’t go my way this year – since Roger Federer is my very favorite player. Adopted him as he was coming up and previous favorite Andre Agassi was slipping. Also very much like Andy Roddick – Andy is working hard, doing well….but will likely never get to the top of the heap. This Wimbledon, with Roger gone, might have been his last chance.
I really like Rafael Nadal, and am glad he won. I certainly didn’t not want Thomas Berdych, who pushed Federer out, to win. And in general, I’m not in favor of tree persons (6’5″ and over) even playing tennis. Gawky and one good shot – that tedious and boring serve. Berdych is better than most of them. But who cares?
I’m thinking about adopting Andy Murray. He’s a Scot when he’s not behaving well, a Brit when he’s being polite. At any rate, he’s a fellow Celt. And getting better. My friend Diane and I have gotten used to rooting for different players, so I’m not going to adopt Nadal. It’ll likely be Murray.
Right now, the rankings are Nadal, Murray, Federer, Djokovic. Roddick may fall out of the top 10 soon.
I love the international flavor of tennis, among other things. And that the head, guts and heart are all in play, and on view – since there are just 2 guys on the court, fighting as hard as they can. I am really going to miss Roger, though. It seems unlikely he’ll ever again be as dominant as he has been. Glad I got to watch most of it.
