Learning to Use My New DVR

October 11, 2010 By admin

Digital voice recorder, that is. I bought it in the spring, and was instantly daunted by the simple task of setting the clock and date. Later I realized I won’t care about the time and date when I’m using it to record Tarot card readings. But continued in a daunted state and never sat down to figure it out.

Til this afternoon. I was doing a reading for a neighbor who’s studying IT at UC. Was going to audio tape the reading, when he said he doesn’t have a tape player. So he ran to get his Mac laptop, to record the reading. Forgot to bring the right cord or something. So I got the DVR out of the drawer it had been been feeling neglected in – and in seconds it was set up and working. We then downloaded the reading onto his laptop, and he walked me through the whole process of recording, setting up different tracks, and erasing. Has a real gift for teaching!

It’ll be great when I’m at festivals doing readings! Or just not to be using old technology folk don’t even have around any more. And I feel very accomplished. Recording is way easier than setting that darned clock!
