Saturday evening, a wedding at St. William’s in Price Hill. The invitation was all in black and white – with bride and groom penguins on the cover. The bride was all in white, as is traditional. The groom was also in white, with the groomsmen, matron of honor and bridesmaids all in black. A traditional ceremony, with a wonderful soprano leading the singing, and many readings by family and friends.
Then afterwards, in the church’s reception hall, a friendly reception – with most of the wedding party changing immediately into Halloween costumes. We suddenly had a nun in attendance, and a priest a few minutes later, with pirates and witches, and the brother of bride turning out to be the Phantom of the Opera. Plus penguins atop the wedding cake.
Knowing the bride, I expected the unusual and the fun. She really outdid herself, with love and joy in abundance.
