Advent Calendars

December 2, 2010 By admin

Most Advent Calendars now run from December 1 through the 24 – they don’t stay with the old way of the 4 Sundays before Christmas.

And, of course, mine are more fun and whimsical. The one I bought this year at the Christmas Shoppe in Kings Mills, for instance, is from German. And each day’s little door opens on a very cheesy joke. Today’s is: What happened to the snake with the cold? She adder viper nose. Tomorrow’s: What happens when you cross a snowball with a shark? Frost-bite.

The permanent Advent calendar, made of felt, that I use from year to year, has 24 pockets with Christmas trees, a toy train, stars, etc, etc, etc in them. Each day, I take one out of a pocket, and mount it on the tree shaped calendar. It’s right on the door into the kitchen, for all to see that the Big Day is growing closer.

Hurray! : >
