That was the title of a gathering on Friday at Xavier University, sponsored by United Way, Vision 2015, the Federal Reserve of Cleveland and Agenda 360. The subtitle: A strategic view for nonprofit and civic organizations. And that’s who was in attendance.
Well presented by smart economists, very good at answering our questions. All was doom and gloom until Kathy Merchant, President of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, took the mike for the last comment. Her take – givers are still giving. Folk with dollars are still generous with them. Overall, giving to non-profits was down about 2% last year, and is on the same track this year. So we can continue to ask, and expect to receive positive responses from our supporters.
In addition, the paradigm shift is nearly here – and history tells us that things get worse and worse, all kinds of tension in societies, until the shift occurs. Then we’ll all pretend we really saw it coming.
Plus, those of us on the spiritual path can continue to expect miracles.
