It is so pleasureful to feed the birds who are spending the winter here. Different food for different birds, different feeders and places to put the food, so the squirrels can’t eat it all and chase everyone else away. The cardinals are up earliest and are the last to stop flying at dusk. The blue jays are late risers – 9 a m or later before they start to shriek. The finches will not deal with snow or rain. The mourning doves prefer midday and sun, but will pick around most any time. Lots of other birds visit, too. No migrators touristing through as yet. Except for the Canadian geese, who started heading home a couple of weeks ago.
I talk to them as I feed them, telling them what I’m doing, how beautiful they are, how wonderful to be part of their lives, and how much I love and appreciate them. Thank You, Birds and all others!
