Fringe Blog

June 2, 2011 By admin

Just posted this on the Fringe website – about my friend Kathleen’s wonderful piece, The God Blog!

My first show this Fringe season was The God Blog, first night, 8:15 @ the Art Academy. Very smart, laugh out loud funny plus lots of chuckles, the references will keep you on your toes! Full disclosure – writer Kathleen O’Neill is part of the Writers Group I’m in, and we’re both in Reiki Healing Circle together (plus Paul/Little Flower Lisa Cupito). So I’ve heard some of these quirky takes on the whole god thing before. And laughed my head off at Joseph-Beth, where Writers meets. Which is why a bunch of us pushed Kathleen to get into the Fringe.

I liked the radio play staging, the signs, the tin can phones – fun, upbeat, silly. Lucifer is the buff and techy one, always has a new idea. The Big Guy / God is baffled much of the time, just looking for his donuts. And the references to Son and the Mrs. really had the crowd thinking – and laughing.

The only thing I might change – maybe The Big Guy should do a little smiting to shape Celestial Services up there at the end.
