The W & S tennis tournament last week is the one my friend Diane and I usually attend – getting a hotel and staying out there the entire week. We leave early Monday morning and return home late Sunday afternoon.
This year, we decided to fulfill our long-time dream of going to the US Open in New York. We’ll be there three days next week, at one of the biggest tennis stages in the world. I am excited!
I would have been ambivalent about buying series tickets this year anyway – since W & S, the primary sponsor, is spending lots of money trying to move the Anna Louise Inn from Lytle Park, which goes very much against my grain. Diane and I decided to buy tickets for Friday evening, quarterfinals day, without having any idea whether either of our favorites – mine is Roger, hers is Rafa – would be playing. Turned out to be a blessing – since both our favorites lost earlier in the day, and we didn’t have to watch them lose.
So we got to see the new buildings and courts at the event, and hear about the plans for more changes next year, got to eat some of the new food, walk around and enjoy breathing the air – and get even more prepared to the Open in the Big Apple!
