An Early Present for Myself

May 23, 2012 By pgarry

I m a great believer in choosing presents for myself at the holidays and birthdays, just as I do for others.? And it’s fun to pick out just the right stuff.

Like a couple of days ago at Joseph-Beth Bookstore.? (I want there always to be bookstores, so I seldom shop at Amazon.)? I am a great admirer of Paul Krugman, the economist whose new book is End This Depression Now, just published.? So that was on my list.

Then, a few weeks ago at a meeting, a friend of mine announced to the crowd that she knew she and I were the only folk in the room who had How the Irish Saved Civilization on their bookshelves. Which, actually, I didn’t.? But had always intended to.? So that was on the list.

And both of them were only available in hard cover, and thus way more expensive.? I’m always happy to give myself a logical reason to do something I want to do.? Since it was my birthday week, I went ahead and bought them for myself.? Happy Birthday to Me!? Actually tomorrow, but I start early and go long with birthdays and the holidays.

As I hope you do, too.? xoxox and Happy Everything!
