World Choir Games

July 13, 2012 By pgarry

Wow!?? What a week here in Cincinnati.? The World Choir Games have been a blast for the entire town, all the suburbs, all the visitors – we have each and all had a wonderful time!

I spent most of Wednesday with the Games – had a Competition ticket, saw Children’s choirs in the morning at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, then Gospel choirs in the afternoon, at the Aronoff Center for the Arts.? Then wandered by the Market Garden with all its ethnic restaurants and shopping, wandered through the thronged Fountain Square, had a great dinner with a friend in the Gateway Quarter and topped that off with a visit to the just-finished and refurbished Washington Park, opposite Music Hall.

Then on Thursday with most of the remaining events sold out, I managed to get tickets to the Gospel and Spiritual Celebration Concert at Music Hall.? So I got to walk through Washington Park again, before seeing the incredible concert.? All of these events have been thoroughly mixed up – every kind of people and culture and income level – hanging out, celebrating the great singing and the fun – and each other.? Liberal and conservative labels just disappear when you’re singing, clapping, shouting all together.

A week to remember!? I wonder what we’re going to do to top it next summer…..
