What a beautiful heart-breaker of a play this is.? Harper Lee perfectly captures the small town Southern flavor, the mid-30s, Jim Crow’s awful rules, written and unwritten, the viciousness of folk and the amazing humanity of folk.
Bruce Cromer shines brightly in this play.? The kids are adorable and mainly their acting is fabulous.? Kelly Mengelkoch was at her best as Maudie, the neighbor.? Billy Chace played his role just right.? Darnell Benjamin was more talked about than present, but he’s one of the best actors in town.? And Ken Early brought dignity and clarity to his role.? Nick Rose, who is terrific, had a hard role which he played well.? You could almost see his character, Bob Ewell, trying to think.
Seeing a play, hearing a play, feeling a play is so much better than reading a play.? This play will leave you more human, more vulnerable, more gentle.
