I was working with a wonderful client the other day, coping with disarrangement and rearrangement in her household, which has resulted in too much stuff in many of the wrong places.? She asked if there was a housework Goddess.
And so I checked in my various books (I know I could have googled or wikied – but I felt like enjoying the feeling of big books in my hand).? And found such a wonderful Goddess woman!? Silkie is Her name – here’s the write up in Goddesses and Heroines by Patricia Monaghan
“She took her name from the silk clothing she wore, this Scottish house-goddess who sneaked into homes to clean whatever was left in disorder; of course, too careful housekeeping was as bad as slovenliness, for if she found nothing to clean, Silkie messed up the rooms instead!”
She sounds like a great one, doesn’t She?? And I think Silkie has Her priorities just right.? Our homes are Sacred Space, so they should not be filled with clutter.? But they are the nurturing space for our lives – so what we’re working on and what we care about should be evident in our surroundings.? Thanks, Silkie!
