This has been a rainy, drippy, warmish and wonderful Christmas Eve!? I’ve been baking bread all day, with friends dropping in and leaving with fresh loaves.? Lots of phone calls, lots of love and presents, a visit from granddaughter Bryce who got to watch the birds eating – and I finally got out to buy my Christmas fleurs.
I really went all out, over the top.? And then son Brian saw my car and came in to Adrian Durban – and paid for them!? Now I have 4 wonderful bouquets in the living room.?? So it’s total joy here.
Leaving soon to drop a warm loaf off at Twin Carolyn’s house.? Plus the scarves I gathered earlier to take to my sister’s family’s Christmas for the white elephant exchange – and then decided not to.? I couldn’t picture any of them loving my scarves.? Turns out Carolyn’s family is having a Give Away Blanket exchange, and she’d love to have them.? Then she called back – did I have a jigsaw puzzle her grandson Miles could play with?? And of course – I have a bunch I’ve already done.? So I put one of winter birds, and one of a botanist’s version of a flower for each letter of the alphabet.
So son Brian and I will be at Maureen’s Christmas until nearly 10, and then head downtown to St. Joseph Church for their Midnight Mass.? I loved it last year, and am so looking forward to it this year.
And in the morning – a family Christmas breakfast, with Brian and his two sons, before they head off to his father’s for that celebration.? At which point, I’ll make a fresh cup of tea and kick back to read one of my Christmas mysteries.
A big Aaaaaaahhhhhh for that!
