I am amazed at myself. First, I got Christmas down rather earlier than usual. It would often come down the week of Martin Luther King, Jrs.’ holiday. And then rest quietly downstairs until a warm-ish day at the very end of January, or at any rate around Valentine’s Day, when it would be put away.
And here I am – I put it all back in boxes, and put the boxes on the shelves in the garage. Christmas is totally put away.
What’s more, I hadn’t been able to find my favorite St. Patrick’s Day decoration – a stained glass circle with shamrocks that says Welcome. I had looked everywhere in the house, opening drawers and cabinets, with no success.
Then as I was putting the last box away on a low shelf, I looked to the right and there it was – laying flat on another shelf a few feet away.
All this organizing largely happened because I have a number of writing projects that I seem to be avoiding – for my left-brained job, my right-brained work, a group I advise on fund raising, and my wonderful son, who needs a Capability Statement.
Nonetheless, it’s great to have the downstairs living room looking fresh and bright in today’s sunshine. And to have this major task completed. Hurray!
