Healing is, of course, always easier if you get to work on the problem while it’s small, and involving just one system. But for some reason at this time in our evolution in this country, many of us seem to work hard to stay in denial as long as possible, and by the time we are flat on our backs in the hospital, we have a cascade of symptoms to deal with.
The advice, from a holistic point of view, is always going to be the same. Keep it simple, go as low on the medicine pole as you can, take your time and pay attention to the messages your body gives you.
Instead of trying to fix everything at once, just stay calm and focus on the major presenting problem.
Two books can really help you feel better, as well as helping you understand your body and your mind better. Prescription for Nutritional Healing is so important, from my point of view, that I believe every household should have one. It’s written by medical folk, but instead of recommending massive amounts of expensive drugs, it supplies many ideas for small changes you can make to improve your condition. And none of them will destroy your health or your pocketbook. $24 bucks at all health food stores and most book stores.
The other, which gets more into the mind part of the equation, is Louise Hay’s Heal Your Body. The subtitle is The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Metaphysical Way to Overcome them. You will be astonished at the wisdom in this little book, which costs about $7 in most book stores.
Take it slow, take it easy, pay attention to your body, listen to your own wisdom, breathe deeply so the fear goes away. You will be amazed.
