Well, first off – it looks weird! Not even tabloid size. And somehow the pages look very crowded to me. I’m not crazy about the inks, either. They seem dark and not crisp. But it’s the crowding, especially on the covers, that is the most uncomfortable for me.
The new funnies/puzzles are especially strange. A different size, heavier paper, looks like the same inks previously used. So do the ads folded inside. Maybe / likely, they are not printed in the same place and on the same stock as the rest.
The inside layouts seem fine, there are some nicely intuitive arrangements on the pages, and some additional features. The content is making me happy, by and large.
I will probably always get the Enquirer – but my real newspaper reading is the digital New York Times. I am really not fond of cincinnati.com, and the millions of ads that are unavoidable. Nothing about that website makes me happy, from the search function, page layout, size of pictures, types of stories featured.
If my opinion changes, or I get used to it – especially if I begin to like it – I’ll let you know!
