Book Review: A Catered St. Patrick’s Day

March 21, 2013 By pgarry

Now, it turns out, that not only can I enjoy reading Christmas mysteries at Christmas, there are also beginning to be St. Patrick’s Day mysteries. And I ran into an excellent one at Joseph-Beth Booksellers.

A Catered St. Patrick’s Day by Isis Crawford is a culinary cozy – a mystery without a lot of blood and gore, a community, and a few recipes. Some go over the top – I’m grateful this one was only 3 or 4 pages of recipes, and all at the back of the book.

This one features sister Libby and Bernie, who are cooks, caterers, and detectives, working with their dad, Sean, who is a retired police chief. I like the interplay between, the interesting secondary characters and settings, and the ins and outs of the mystery itself. Very fun.

Therefore – I’m going to stock up on their Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day and Thanksgiving mysteries – one of my favorite ways to unwind during the hectic holidays.
