A friend presented me with a sofa pillow some years ago – needlepoint, that said Fruits of the Spirit, and listed Love, Joy, Peace and Patience. I should have liked it, but it was so pastel-ish, grayed and subdued. With the result that it got put away a lot.
Then in early spring, I got a new deep green leather chair, and nothing went with it. So the pillow got pulled out of deep in the closet, and used – mostly because it was fairly neutral.
Last weekend, wandering through Joseph Williams Home in the Gateway Quarter – wonderful place! – i could not find a thing with the correct color. And thought for the millionth time of dyeing or painting the pillow.
I’d had the thought before, but didn’t want to ruin it. Last night common sense kicked in. What good was it in the closet? So I pulled out green, yellow and orange permanent markers, to put over the purples and reds and pinks, and fixed it!
Wow! Now it’s gorgeous, and sitting in the big green chair that it perfectly matches. Hooray! Why didn’t I take better care of myself long ago, and either fix it or pass it on? Another lesson learned. That beautiful new pillow has really raised my energy.
