Carol Higgins Clark and her alter ego Regan Reilly are very similar folk – they have famous writer mothers, are bi-coastal, and curious about almost everything.
Carol gets to do the writing, and Regan gets all the action in the now-long series of mysteries with one-word titles. We’ve seen Regan through meeting her husband to be when her father is kidnapped, to the engagement, the wedding, and now the many mysteries that bring them working together – with Jack’s job as head of Major Crimes for the New York Police Department being very helpful.
I’m glad to report that Regan is still the star of the mysteries, and that Carol continues to combine mystery and comedy in nearly equal measure. This is excellent writing, plausible, down-to-earth stories about real, everyday people and how they think.
A perfect combination, a perfect read!
