Two Garden Firsts on the Same Day

June 11, 2013 By pgarry

I saw my first hummingbird of this year at the feeder yesterday – June 10! That is sooooo late! Usually the first sighting is somewhere during the first week of May.

And – the first day lilies bloomed! Three or four lilies in one of the many patches on the edges of the woods. That should not even happen. The day lilies are a bit early, but this is the new normal for them. Last year, it was nearly the first of June, when the peonies should have been blooming -but they had finished weeks before.

But to have both events on the same day. The world is definitely not what it used to be.
