Aaaahhh! What a blessing it was – a wedding shower with no games, no cute food, no ultra ultra cheeriness. Just smart grown up women of varying ages celebrating the marriage of the daughter of one of their own.
We ate a lot, there was wonderful wine and three kinds of pale iced teas, goodies of all sorts. Then we went around in a circle and told the bride how we knew her mother, with a lot of stories thrown in.
After that the gorgeous bride opened her gifts (it was supposed to be a linen shower, which most of us paid at least a little attention to) and we were finished.
Actually, it was nearly a 4 hour gathering, way longer than most showers. But it went by in a snap!
