Review – 39 Steps @ Cincy Shakes

July 28, 2013 By pgarry

What a terrific evening! Alfred Hitchock’s scary mystery movie transformed into a very funny 4 person / many characters play. Perfect summer theater.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company always does a comedy to get us through the summer. And they are sooo good at slapstick, timing, switching roles in seconds flat, the whole physical comedy thing. I knew it was going to be great – and it absolutely was!

Nick Rose was always himself. Miranda McGee was all the women, including the sultry spy, and then the disbelieving woman Hannay was handcuffed to. Billy Chace and Justin McCombs were everything else, in the flash of an eye (and Billy was actually the wife of the very bad guy).

Laughing is a great summertime activity. Go there. Laugh. : >
