You know my predilection for reading Christmas mysteries during the holidays… Well, now it’s gotten worse! I’ve started collecting mysteries for other holidays as well – found one for St. Patrick’s Day – and just finished one for Halloween.
Town in a Pumpkin Bash, by B. B. Haywood, is all about the pumpkin-y holiday, Down East / Maine style. The heroine even has her birthday on Halloween. In today’s copycat fashion, it has recipes, and a little romance. Not much, and none of the humor that Janet Evanovich has made almost mandatory these days. And built in to the epilog, there is clearly a sequel / continuation to come.
It was a good read, and a fast read – since I seem still to be in that turn-the-brain-off-by-reading-something-mysterious-and-interesting-and-fun.
P. S. The heroine’s name is Candy Holliday!
