So my honorary granddaughter Bryce’s 3rd birthday was actually on the 29th, but the party was held at Pizzelli’s in Mariemont yesterday.
I’m trying to mentally count – I think there were 8 kids there, from about 7 down to 3 or 3 months old. But most of the kids were right around Bryce’s age. Her mom was so smart in organizing the celebration.
As each child came in with a present, Susan handed them a bag with toys, things to draw – with not a bit of sugar around. So they gave a gift and got a gift. Worked perfectly!
Then, the Pizzeli folk had lots of trays covered in cornmeal, with a round of down on top – and tons of aprons. Another table held toppings, from traditional to apples, caramel, marshmallows. Each attendee got to make and top her/his own pizza. After the kids were all done – the grownups made pizzas, too.
After the eating – it was present opening time. Bryce was a champ at that – and at saying thank you to each gift giver, with really no prompting. Meanwhile, some kids were still eating, some were playing with their toy cars – and then there was the birthday cake – a car theme, with bright blue icing.
And in an hour and a half, it was over. As I said, Susan is really smart. No one had time to get overwrought or wired and overwhelmed. Just a treat of a party – and even some time for conversations here and there! And the Pizzelli’s folk were outstanding in taking care and cleaning up fast. A good time all around.
