A spectacularly beautiful day today! Yesterday, we waited and waited for the 3 to 5 inches of snow, which was predicted to start at 10 a m.
Since the snow had not yet started, I went ahead to my 10 a m meeting nearby – I figured I could always get home quick. Then it still hadn’t started, and Karla had moved up my hair appointment to 10:45 a m – so I went. It still wasn’t snowing at 12:15, when she was finished with my hair, so I went ahead to the office to collect the checks, get them signed and put mine in the bank. So it was 1:30 and still not snowing – then I sat in at the office on a meeting about marketing the Back Office program to our non-profit customers, and took off at 2, when a candidate for our accounting position arrived.
I stopped at Clifton Natural Foods to pick up what I needed, had a conversation with the owners about their future plans, and took off, with one more errand to do – stopping at the post office. There were 2 small false starts to the snow – 5 minutes or so of big flakes – while I was out and about. But right at almost exactly 3 p m, as I was turning in my driveway, the snow began. Small flakes, very deceptive but persistent – soon I could not see through the snow, and we had 5 inches before 9 p m.
I heard noises on the driveway a bit after 9 p m – the neighbors were cleaning it off, since the nurse neighbor was going to have to get out of the driveway at 7 a m. We had maybe an additional 2 more inches after that, but she got out easily. And with the sunshine, all is beautiful and all is well today – the driveway is almost totally clear!
