Book Review: Anything We Love Can Be Saved

July 6, 2014 By pgarry

Alice Walker is a great thinker as well as a great writer. This book, Anything We Love Can Be Saved – A Writer’s Activism, is a terrific collection of essays. Published in 1997, it covers her earliest activist actions right up to the point of publication. It also includes spare and sparse details of her private life, and intriguing pictures. She also put several of her love poems in the work.

I’ve read almost all of Alice’s fiction. And listened to many audio recordings of her work, which can be found all over the internet in many forms – and of course in bookstores, etc.

She is a great role model – brave, funny, sincere, honest, clear where she is each moment and using her strong will to move the world forward.

Her writing and her actions show the same straight lines, clear boundaries, and upward direction. Amazing and wonderful, long may she wave.
