So none of tennis’ Big Four were even in the Championship Match today! The match in Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York was between Kei Nishikori of Japan and Marin Cilic of Croatia.
They both fought hard and deserved to be there – though of course I was pulling hard for Roger Federer in his semifinal against Cilic. It looked like Roger’s best chance for #18. But that didn’t happen.
Then in today’s match I was pulling for Kei – that didn’t happen either.
One of the major wonderful things was that all four of the semifinalists – the Djoker, Roger, Kai and Marin – are all coached by former #1s. Fun to see all those familiar faces.
And I guess it is fun to have a new champion. Just going to take me a while to get used to it.
