Book Review: Dead Witch Walking

October 3, 2014 By pgarry

With such a great title, how good I resist Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison? And it turns out it was the first of a series, which probably everyone else has read by now, published in 2004.

This must have been of the first of the newly resurgent witches, vampire etc books. It is a little bit every-4-pages a new crisis, lots of physical battles and struggles, just hints at physical love.

I like the characters as they developed, though Rachel freaking out every time Ivy gets near her got a little wearing after a while. Jenks and family – the pixies – are a treat, as are the gadeget-y spells, etc. Mr. Keasley is intriguing, as is the whole idea of our airport being set in the Hollows. Did I mention the series is set in Cincinnati? Not too many mentions, but still….

Trent is quite evil, his sidekick Jonathan is worse, the whole Inderland / FIB thing – one bureaucracy for humans, the other for all of the others in the country is fun.

I will definitely read another one, to see how it all has grown and changed.
