Wow! What a delight! Visually, musically, community and energy wise. The Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival held annually between Christmas and New Year’s at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Cincinnati has been on my list for literally years. I’m busy, I’m out of town, I haven’t gotten it together on time – have all gotten in my way.
Not this year, though! I got myself down to the church at 8:30 in the morning on Saturday, December 13, to pick up two tickets. Took several minutes to get oriented as to where the red table was – lots of tables, most with red coverings. In asking about that, I wandered in to a person (who might have been the Dean) who helped me find the table, and then mentioned that she had two tickets left to give away. So that turned out to be easy.
Turned out they were tickets to the dress rehearsal, which didn’t matter much to me, since it was the day and time I wanted to go anyway – early Saturday afternoon the 3rd.
Nearly gave up in my efforts to find someone to go with, but somehow just thought it would all work out. Which it did not until 12:45 p m on the day itself – with the event set to start at 2. Then my friend Susan called about lunch – ‘Not lunch’, I said, ‘but I have something else in mind.’ Susan, bless her heart, agreed on the spot. She picked me up about half and hour later, and we found a parking spot half a block away on that rainy afternoon. So we were in place right on time!
