Me, Christmas and All the Holidays!

December 15, 2015 By pgarry

Born to celebrate – that’s my motto! And it’s never truer than at Christmas time – make that Hannukah, Yule, Solstice, St. Nicholas Day, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, St. Lucia’s Day. I’ll stop there.

It’s all that light! The penetrating darkness outside, and light bursting from every corner inside. The Christmas tree, the Menorah, St. Lucia’s crown of candles. It’s having all the other lights off, and just the lit up tree, the glass block filled with a string of lights and a bow on top, that looks like a present – and candles everywhere. It’s the music box clock that lights up once an hour and plays carols.

It is the downtown filled with delights, buildings decorated outside and in, all the train setups and floral displays. The fabulous meals everywhere, the excellent holiday treats for sale in most every shop. It’s the love, the joy, the smiles.

And it goes on from the day after Thanksgiving to about the middle of January. We need the rest of winter to recover – while savoring all those warm memories as the cold sets in. Aaaahhhh!
