I’ll write more about the State of Community Development event itself in the coming days. I’m very proud of what we did, want to grow it next year, and also really liked my speech now that I have read portions of it to my Writers Group this evening at Joseph-Beth in Rookwood. I gave it in reality last Thursday at the Federal Reserve Bank downtown – good to hear it this evening without any pressure.
But as I was writing it over several days last week – and facing stiff critiques from my Assistant Director at the CDC Association – I realized (and stopped to point out to myself several times during the process) that I REALLY LOVE TO WRITE!
Keeping up with the thoughts in my head, following all the twists and turns, writing fast, letting it flow and flow – it is all SO GOOD! And the best, of course, is HAVING WRITTEN! Aaaahhhh. A high like no other.
My self-definition since I was 7 is that I Am a Writer. Being a mom, an activist, and, up until now (an inside joke) a procrastinator, I have not written as much as I have felt I should. But I have written a tremendous amount, and will be writing a lot more when I retire on December 31.
